This is a burning question, as this is impeding my drawings greatly. While drawing, I have to stay diligent for walls unsnapping and causing crashes. I’m always certain to get them to snap bu they will unsnap or cause a crash & it’s getting to be a rather large hindrance in working with this software & seems to have gotten worse since C2 was implemented.

Is this issue being resolved or will this be a permanent feature of  Envisioneer 17?

    “permanent feature”? or permanent failure?

This and other issues must be resolved. As it is V17 is almost unusable. If it weren’t for the “exterior finish” that allows me to replace one exterior finish with another and be much closer to seeing what you get for stone, vinyl , B&B etc. I would switch back to V16.

I heard a rumor that a patch was in testing last week. The estimated release date has past so maybe it wasn’t successful.

I don’t understand how V17 ever got released and makes me wonder if anyone there ever really draws a complete house in testing. I’m not talking some 1500 sf ranch with an auto and done roof. I am talking a 5000 sf multi store with some tall walls and roof that can only be done in surfaces.  If they had drawn one of these houses it would have been clear that 17 was not ready to ship.

I would be happy to beta test for them. I have drawn 4400 houses in Envisioneer over the last 10 years and have a pretty good idea how this program works. Even better I would invite Nick or Louisa to come to Missouri. I have a spare desk with Envisioneer loaded and a backlog of 27 Houses that need done. In just a few day I bet they would learn a lot about house this program preforms in the wild.

Im with you and hoping every day that today will be the day it gets fixed.

…still running v13 after all these years because they seem oblivious to the most basic design & construction issues in this software. I’ve given up on this platform and will be moving on to ‘something else’ now that the economy is swinging the other way once again.

Good to know that v17 they were just raving to me about is buggy to the point of uselessness….I was considering an upgrade.

As  Areetz commented…its like they’ve never actually created a truly complex (real-world) construction with their software. I really doubt they’ve ever cracked a code book either.

Ill say it again. The idea behind the layers on walls is a good one. As I am estimating a commercial building I like that I can add and remove elements with the layers. Change OSB to Zip, move wall coverage up or down and see what has been done without spending a lot of time manually changing appearance of walls. Working properly I believe it will be a big time saver and help with accuracy. Just need to get things fixed.

I mentioned in another post that I have made all my walls 3 1/2″ wide regardless of the framing member. I draw a lot of lines when connecting interior to exterior walls. I am starting to get a feel for drawing interior to exterior, don’t draw  from exterior to interior with a 90 degree right turn. Most just doesn’t make sense to me. I am with you. Once it crashes the first time things will never be the same.

What bothers me the most is that after all this time if you can finally get ahold of anyone in tec they act like this is all new to them. In a day or two they may say that they were able to recreate the crash. My question is how can you draw a real house and it not crash many times.

And Cadsoft, Louisa, Nic, Kate, someone.  Talk to us. Return our calls. I get it you don’t want to. No one in this office wants to talk to me after tippy toeing around drawing simple walls all day. But don’t ignore us, give up updates and hope that we can get this going and move on to other things like why are advanced members so SLOW.

I have see C3 and worked with it this weekend. No crashes on the wall intersections. Little things happening on more complex intersection priority that may self inflicted. Working on getting my walls back to proper widths to represent the members. So far SO MUCH BETTER.

IMO first chance you get, install C3

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and for sharing your frustrations with us. We completely understand how important it is to have smooth and reliable functionality, especially when you’re working on complex designs. We’re really sorry for the issues you’ve been facing with V17, and we truly appreciate your patience while we’ve been working to address these bugs and glitches.

When fixing issues, we always try to make sure that resolving one problem doesn’t accidentally create a new one — we know that’s a challenge with software as intricate as BIM. With C3, we put a lot of focus on fixing the most pressing issues, including wall connections, intersections, and crashes. We understand how frustrating these bugs have been, and making them a top priority was really important to us. It took a little longer than usual to get C3 right this time around, but we’re confident it’s a step in the right direction.

The transition from previous versions to V17 was a big one, especially with how we now handle wall components to reflect real-world construction more accurately. We understand that working on large, multi-story houses with intricate designs and keeping up with building codes can be challenging. Rest assured, we’re committed to making sure V17 works as it should, and we’re always listening to feedback to help us improve.

We also really appreciate your offer to beta test future versions! With all your experience using the software, your input would be incredibly valuable. I’ll definitely look into getting you added to the list for upcoming releases. And thank you for recognizing the value in certain parts of the software, even with the challenges in other areas.

The C3 patch should help resolve a lot of the crashing issues you’ve been experiencing with wall intersections. We’ve already received feedback from other users saying it’s making their workflows much smoother. I’d highly recommend installing the patch as soon as you can — it should make things much easier for your current projects.

Please know we take your feedback seriously, and we’re always working to improve. If you ever need help, run into any more issues, or have features you’d love to see in the software, don’t hesitate to reach out, either here in the community or via [email protected].

Thanks again for your patience and for sticking with us. We’re really grateful to have users like you helping us make Envisioneer the best tool it can be!
