The 2D Cut Height setting under Building Locations determines the height above the floor that your floor plan is viewed on each location. The height depends on the amount of detail needed and the height and size of your openings.

  1. In our example design there is a 4’ x 4’, a 3’ x 3’ and a 6’ x 1’-6” Window inserted into a wall.
  2. When we view the plan in 2D we can see the opening details for the 4’ x 4’ and 3’ x 3’ window but the 6’ x 1’-6” window is missing some of the opening detail.
  3. If we put the plan into a Solid Fill mode by selecting the Solid Fill command, we can also see that the solid fill runs through the window opening and may make it hard to see.

To adjust for this size opening on this location, we will edit the Building Locations to adjust the height that we are cutting above our floor for our 2D Plan Views.

Building Locations Cut Height

  1. Go to Settings > Buildings Locations or select the Building Locations button in the lower left corner.
  2. In the Building Location dialog, you will see that the 2D Cut Height is set to 4’ for the ground floor location. We want to adjust this height to 6’ so that it cuts through the smaller height window. Since we can see that the default head height is set to 6’-8”, we know we should not go any higher than that.
  3. Select OK in the Building Locations dialog.

You will then see that the floor plan now shows the detail around the 6’ x 1’-6” Window, as it is cutting the floor plan 6’ from the floor.
